Exodus: action packed and lots to learn….

j0353628We started our Moses series by watching the movie The Prince of Egypt.  There’s so much to cover that the movie will help set the stage for the workshops to follow.  Moses’ life was full of adventure and challenges!  He escaped death as an infant; he was raised by the Egyptians in Pharaoh’s family; he saw injustice in the treatment of the slaves and had to flee after his actions went too far; he started over as a shepherd until God called him through a burning bush; he found his birth family and faced Pharaoh with God’s message and led the Hebrews to freedom from slavery.  And that’s just the beginning!

In the book of Exodus, we’ll meet one of the most important biblical people.  He is referred to more in the New Testament than anyone else from the Old Testament!

Moses Workshops will include:

Art – We’ll make our own burning bush to remind us that God calls us, that we don’t have to be perfect to do God’s work on earth, and that all ground we meet God on is holy ground.

Games We’ll learn more about the events of the story and understand them through some games.

Computer We’ll go on some “Exodus Adventures” using a 3D adventure game.  Through the eyes of Robin, a teenage archaeologist, we’ll fly in a helicopter to Goshen and then to Midian to find the burning bush.  After visiting Pharaoh’s Palace and learning about the plagues, we’ll follow Robin to base to learn more about the story’s meaning for her life.

Cooking Always a favourite workshop!   We’ll make a “Plate of Plague” to eat and “Nile River Blood Red Sippers” to drink as we look at the plagues part of the Exodus story.  God, through Moses and Aaron as his messengers, used the horrible 10 plagues to force Pharaoh to free the people.  Some changes are not easy to make!
